Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. If you do not see yours here, call us at 604-552-8266 and we will be happy to help.

Getting started

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book any of our services directly, and no referral is needed for ICBC claims either. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor’s note before they reimburse certain treatments, so it is a good idea to check your plan.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book online at any time and choose the service, practitioner, and time that suit you. You can also call us at 604-552-8266.

What should I expect at my first visit?

After you book, we will email you an intake form to complete before your visit. Please arrive a few minutes early. Your practitioner will review your health history and goals, assess the problem, and in most cases begin treatment the same day. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

Please bring:

  • Your extended health insurance card, if you would like us to direct bill
  • Your ICBC claim number and BC Personal Health Number (PHN), if you were in a car accident
  • Any imaging reports or doctor’s notes related to your concern
Which service is right for me?

Here is a quick guide. If you are still unsure, call us and our front desk will help you choose.

Insurance and ICBC

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes. We direct bill ICBC and major extended health insurance providers, so in many cases you only pay the portion your plan does not cover. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so we recommend checking your benefits before your visit.

I was in a car accident. Is my treatment covered?

Yes, once you have an ICBC claim. Under ICBC Enhanced Care, drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians can start treatment in the first 12 weeks after a crash with no referral and no ICBC approval needed. We bill ICBC directly, so there is nothing to pay out of pocket for covered treatments. Just bring your claim number and PHN.

Treatments covered in the first 12 weeks:

  • Physiotherapy25
  • Chiropractic25
  • Massage therapy (RMT)12
  • Acupuncture12
  • Active rehab (kinesiology)12

What if I need more treatments?

If you need care beyond the covered visits or past 12 weeks, your practitioner can submit a treatment plan to ICBC to request more sessions. Our front desk will let you know when you are getting close to your limit and guide you through the process.

Treatments

How much does a visit cost?

Private (non ICBC) fees: physiotherapy initial assessment $130 for 45 minutes, follow ups from $100 for 30 minutes; chiropractic initial visit $120, follow ups $75; registered massage therapy from $90 for 30 minutes; acupuncture from $90 for 30 minutes; kinesiology $95 for 45 minutes; naturopathic initial consultation $250. We direct bill most extended health plans, and ICBC patients pay no extra fees. Fees are as listed in our online booking in October 2026 and may change.

Who are your practitioners?

Our team includes physiotherapist Shahzad Ali Syed, chiropractor Dr. Jin Ho Kim, registered massage therapists Chunghyo (CK) Kim, Justin Kim and Hyeri Na, acupuncturists Joonsoo Lee, Kyungmi (Kayla) Im and Anita Wong, kinesiologists Martin Law and James Lee, and naturopathic doctor Dr. Amy Joo. Meet the team.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition, how long you have had it, and your goals. After your first assessment, your practitioner will explain what they found and recommend a plan, then adjust it as you improve.

What is shockwave therapy, and does it hurt?

Shockwave therapy uses sound waves to stimulate healing in stubborn tendon and soft tissue problems, such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and Achilles or shoulder tendinitis. Each area takes about 5 to 10 minutes, with no needles and no downtime. You may feel some discomfort during treatment, and mild redness afterward is normal.

Are custom orthotics covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans cover custom orthotics, but some require a doctor’s prescription first, so please check your plan before your appointment. Your orthotics are made from a 3D scan of your feet after a gait and posture assessment with our chiropractor.

Is prenatal massage safe?

Prenatal massage is suitable for most healthy pregnancies, and your RMT will position you safely and comfortably at every stage. Please let us know how far along you are when you book, and check with your doctor or midwife first if your pregnancy is considered high risk. We also offer postnatal massage to support your recovery after birth.

What does a naturopathic doctor help with?

Our naturopathic doctor focuses on finding the root cause of your health concerns. Common reasons patients visit include hormone and women’s health, weight management, food sensitivity testing, and lab testing. Pap tests, IV therapy, and prolotherapy are also available.
