Acupuncture at Balance Lab Wellness
Acupuncture is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine, involving the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body. This technique stimulates the nervous system, prompting the release of natural painkillers and neurotransmitters that promote healing and overall well-being.
Acupuncture supports the body’s internal balance by enhancing digestion, energy production, and circulation through the meridians.

Types of Acupuncture
There are various acupuncture techniques, each tailored to specific needs and conditions:
Traditional Acupuncture
Uses fine needles to stimulate specific points on the body.
Ear Acupuncture
Targets points on the ear to address pain, stress, and other conditions.
Electro-Acupuncture
Enhances traditional acupuncture with electrical stimulation for deeper therapeutic effects.
Scalp Acupuncture
Focuses on acupuncture points on the scalp to assist with neurological conditions.
Modern scientific research suggests that acupuncture activates the nervous system, triggering biochemical responses that help manage pain, regulate hormones, and support the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
Our Approach
At Balance Lab Wellness, our acupuncturists prioritize safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatments. Our holistic approach integrates acupuncture with complementary therapies, including:
Acupressure
Acupressure is an alternative to acupuncture for individuals who prefer non-invasive treatments, such as those with conditions like hemophilia. This technique applies gentle but firm pressure to specific points on the body, stimulating the meridians to promote healing. Acupressure is particularly beneficial for:
- Soft tissue and joint injuries
- Relaxation and stress relief
- Preventative health maintenance

Cupping Therapy
Cupping is a therapeutic technique that creates a partial vacuum on the skin using specialized cups made of glass, plastic, or metal. This process increases blood circulation, relieves muscle tension, and promotes healing. Cupping is known to help with:
- Muscle pain and stiffness
- Respiratory conditions such as bronchitis
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Soft-tissue injuries and inflammation
During a session, the cups may remain stationary or be moved along the skin to provide a deep tissue massage effect. Some mild bruising may occur, which is a normal response to the therapy.
