What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a treatment approach that helps restore and maintain a patient’s mobility, function, and overall well-being. At Balance Lab Wellness, our licensed physiotherapists work with clients of all ages and treat a wide range of MSK related health conditions. They provide patient education and hands-on techniques to address movement dysfunction and pain.
From injury rehabilitation to pain management, physiotherapists use their expertise to assess and treat mobility concerns. Our team specializes in treating injuries related to motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), lifestyle changes, and sports injuries, including whiplash, neck pain, back pain, and shoulder injuries.
Additionally, we provide specialized treatment for vertigo, dizziness, and vestibular dysfunction, helping patients regain balance, stability, and confidence in their daily activities.

Our Approach to Care
At Balance Lab Wellness, we go beyond just passive treatments. While we utilize advanced modalities such as:
Ultrasound Therapy
Helps reduce inflammation and promote tissue healing
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
Stimulates muscles to enhance recovery and reduce pain

A private initial physiotherapy assessment is $130 for 45 minutes or $160 for 60 minutes. Follow up visits are $100 for 30 minutes, $130 for 45 minutes and $160 for 60 minutes. Most extended health plans cover physiotherapy and we direct bill them, and ICBC patients pay no extra fees. Fees are as listed in our online booking in October 2026 and may change.
Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy in BC?
No. You can book physiotherapy directly, and no referral is needed for ICBC claims either. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor's note before they reimburse, so check your plan if you are not sure.
Does ICBC cover physiotherapy after a car accident?
Yes. Under ICBC Enhanced Care you can have up to 25 physiotherapy visits in the first 12 weeks after a crash with no referral and no ICBC approval needed. We bill ICBC directly. If you need more care after that, your physiotherapist can submit a treatment plan to ICBC.
